About Us

What’s the real Supornova, you ask?

It’s basically me – ginge_ranger – messaging people on HJU about becoming staff members.  I first started fansubbing in December 2006. Skewed Studios took me in from the cold and taught me what to do. I first learned timing and then moved onto editing and QCing. I then dabbled in some typesetting and encoding and even took the best advantages I had to learn some basic Japanese phrases (I will be a translator one day!).

After months of no work being releases I became kind of frustrated in my impatient way and joined ILA Fansubs. It was there that I decided to create Supornova. Now you’re probably thinking “yeah this guy is an idiot he spelt the name wrong!” Well yeah you’re right. The original name for the group was meant to be Choushinsei, the title to widely popular series and what I hoped would be first project, Flashman. But since I could never get the spelling right I went for it’s translation,  Supernova. Well, I thought I’d be cool and register a google group – but I spelt it wrong and suddenly I saw Supornova Fansubs come up at me. Stands out a bit more, don’t ya think? So no I’m not just a turd who can’t spell.

Okay, anyway, after a slight controversy with ILA I began to work with Supornova full time. Suddenly my dreams of fansub glory were dashed and I was left for months with nothing. Continued determination led me to Maskman – and now it’s my first project.  Finding Mestre Yoda was also a dream as he became my first official active staff member. This led to Mega Powers reaching your HDs.

I hope to achieve great things this year and expand this group with the community. I am happy to say that I won’t be going anywhere for a long time!

    I have seen that you guys are doing Maskman Sentai, well this is ssuch a great deal because I really like Maskman eversince.

    Anyways, yould you be uploading your creation via torrent, Megaupload has been very unstable in my location recently. And by the way I do have the complete Maskman RAWS which you might need to complete your fansubbing deals..

    I would be able to upload it for you guys to have a copy and hardsub it.

    happen to come to your website frequently i’m here to ask do you guys accept video that other people send to you an video and you guys do the subtitle then put it on your web?

    If got i wish to share a video that is i recently download but no subtitle. can you guy do the sub. and if possible put it on your web here to share with everyone.. :)

    pls give me an reply whether can or can not ..?

  3. can you do a fansub of turboranger too? because this is one of the beautiful story of sentai. thanks for fansubbing maskman episodes. i hope it will be finished

    first of all i would like to comment that your site is great. Now all the toku fans will be able to watch many of their favorite show is subs.

    i also like flashman. it is infact the first sentai show that i got(back in those days it was a cassette tape).

    So keep up with the good work. I don’t mind at all about the shows that u r subbing. Pls do release them flequently.

  5. hello owner of supernova-fansubs

    Just learnt about irc. And this is how you use it if you don’t want to install any irc software. Follow these steps.

    1. Go http://www.mibbit.com
    2. Select irc.mp3japan.org in the bar that you can scroll down.
    3. Use any nicknames you like.
    4. Input # in the Channel bar.
    5. Click go and you are ready to talk.
